Our world is simply an amazing place. When I paint something, I begin to have an insight as to what it actually is –not literally, but emotionally. In the end, a painting must rely on it’s emotional strength.  Paul is careful about how he paints - it is a meditative undertaking.  Although Paul is also a studio painter, painting plein air is his direct link to an enchanting and mysterious reality. His paintings are not so much statements as they are an effort to understand our surroundings. Paul will be an Artist in Residence at the Grand Canyon this August.  He was this year’s Landscape Juror in the Pastel Journal Top 100 competition and is a Master Pastellist in the Pastel Society of America.  His work can be seen online at www.murrayfineart.com.
