I’ve pursued painting on
location as a source of inspiration for over forty years and have learned to
appreciate the unique relationship of man to place. Rural scenes with man’s
footprint have been a passion for me, enjoying the process of capturing the
particular character of place along with the mood of the day. My subjects have expanded with time to
include townscapes and edges of water and land.
I am drawn to those out of ordinary places common to Door County. Through my watercolors characterized by
spontaneity, controlled accidents and a lively color palette, I create an image
the viewer will understand and value.
